American Red Cross:
The American Red Cross Western Upper Peninsula
Service Delivery Center located in Hancock, serves
Baraga, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Keweenaw, and Ontonagon
counties with its many programs and services. The center
provides food, clothing, and shelter for the emergency
needs of victims of disasters. These disasters may range
from house fires to natural disasters. In addition, the
center provides emergency communication between armed
forces personnel and their loved ones via its Armed
Forces Emergency Services. Of course the community is
made a safer place due to the First Aid, CPR, Water
Safety, HIV/AIDS, and Babysitting education and training
the center offers to individuals and businesses. The

Copper Country Mental Health: Copper Country
Mental Health Services provides behavioral health
services to the residents of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw
and Ontonagon counties who are severely mentally ill,
seriously emotionally disturbed, or developmentally
disabled. Services/supports are intended to increase
independence, improve quality of life and support
community integration and inclusion of the persons
served. Using a Person-Centered approach, individuals
are encouraged to take an active role in designing their
individual treatment plan and supports. CCMHS is
committed to providing quality behavioral health
services that are accessible and affordable. Medicaid,
Medicare, and most private insurances are accepted. If
you do not have insurance, or your insurance does not
cover the full cost of services, you will be charged
using a sliding scale based on your ability to pay. No
one is denied services due to their inability to pay.

Is a 24-hour crisis intervention center,
offering both telephone and walk-in services. This
program offers a sexual assault victim support team,
support for victims of all crimes, substance abuse
prevention, community education and training, community
and school prevention programs, short-term counseling,
parenting assistance, victim/offender mediation, a
resource library and a seven county WATTS service.

Phoenix House: (Substance Abuse Services)
Phoenix House was established in 1973 to meet
the needs of alcoholic and/or chemically-dependent men
and women in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Since that time, the program has served thousands of
residents from the U.P., downstate Michigan and the
Midwest.
All Phoenix House programs are in compliance with the
Federal Register regarding client confidentiality and
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Phoenix House is licensed by the State of Michigan
Department of Consumer & Industry Services Substance
Abuse Quality Assurance Licensing and is also accredited
by the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission (CARF).

Supportive Housing for Youth Program:
SHYP is an 18 month voluntary program that serves youth
between the ages of 16 and 20 who are at risk of
becoming or are homeless. SHYP provides both financial
and emotional support. The program also teaches these
young adults the skills they need to successfully live
on their own, care for themselves and interact with
others, in their personal life, at home, in school, and
on the job. Located in the Cedar Bluff Professional
